After Arts is a community of over 500 professionals in business, law, finance, healthcare, and tech who share a passion for playing and listening to music. We believe that having an artistic background can benefit an individual regardless of their professional trajectory. Our monthly events aim to help our members grow both personally and professionally through mentorship and networking opportunities.
About the Team
Nicholas King | Founder & Executive Director
Nicholas is a Managing Director at Fort Point Capital, a registered investment advisor providing wealth advisory and risk management solutions to individuals, families, and institutions across the United States. Driven by a desire to combine his passion for music and business, he founded After Arts, a thriving community of professionals who share a passion for and background in the performing arts. Previously, Nicholas maintained an active career as a concert pianist and performed in major recital halls in seven countries, selling out both The Walt Disney Concert Hall and Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall. Nicholas had an early start in philanthropy; at the age of 10 he raised more than $35,000 for the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Recognition. He also founded the Art of Giving Back, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting young musicians and giving back to the community. He serves on the Board of Governors of The Mannes School of Music and advisory board of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, and holds a BM in classical piano from The Royal Conservatory of Music; an AD from Oberlin College & Conservatory; and an MM from The Juilliard School.
Joy Sheetz | Event Manager
Joy is a senior project manager in PIMCO’s U.S. financial institutions group (FIG) in the New York office. She is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of customized investment management solutions to insurance companies and banks. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2019, Joy worked in the private client group at AllianceBernstein. Joy started her career on the real estate advisory team at StepStone Global. She received an undergraduate degree in business management from The King’s College in NYC. Outside of work, Joy is an aspiring home chef and probably hunting for the next best NY restaurant.
Eva Ding | Artistic Director
Often humorously likened to an inflatable tube man onstage because of her enthusiasm, passion, and physicality, all flutist and multi-disciplinary artist Eva Ding ever wants to do is imbue in her audience the same sense of joy and richness the performing arts brings to her. Ever-changing and growing in her passions and craft, Eva is currently working on creating interactive, interdisciplinary works that meld together her passions for music, theater, and film and has held artist residencies at The Center at West Park and Caroga Arts. In her spare time, Eva plays with her poodle Chocco, who adores singing along to her flute practice.
